Pumpkins!

On Saturday, October 26th we headed to the pumpkin patch at The Old Time Christmas Tree Farm for the second year.  We went last fall when Nani was visiting and I love being able to look back here and see what a difference a year makes!
This year we went after I taught boot camp and Daddy went on a bike ride so after a busy morning Ella fell asleep in the car.  Rich stayed in the car with her so she could snooze for a bit so Joseph and I enjoyed some time together climbing through the pumpkins and checking everything out.  He had no interest in going in the bounce houses this year (I kept asking him repeatedly) but all he wanted to do was to climb on the pumpkins!  We went from pile to pile and he loved it.

Sleeping beauty finally woke up and we were able to pull Joseph away from the pumpkins for a bit to go on the hayride as a family.
Attempted to get some cute pumpkin patch pictures with both of them before we chose our pumpkin but didn't have the best luck.
This was the best we got!  Oh well.

On Sunday morning we had a big storm that caused us to lose power from about 5:00 a.m. all the way utnil 2:00 p.m.  We ventured out onto the patio when the rain stopped and carved our pumpkin.  Joseph requested a "scary and silly pumpkin".
Daddy hard at work!
THe kids watching Daddy work.  Note the headlight aroudn Joseph's head.  He loved wearing this all day!
Ella is excited about the jack-o-lantern

Ella liked the seeds, Joseph not so much.
And, of course, she tried eating them!
And then tried eating the pumpkin chunks.
The final product!
I put our pumpkin outside on Tuesday night (two nights before Halloween) and when we went outside on Wednesday mornign the jack-o-lantern was totally moldy and squishy.  It was so gross.  I was shocked that it was destroyed so quickly and was bummed that we didn't get to light it...next year!
