On the go

Last weekend, June 23rd-24th, was quite the busy weekend!
Saturday morning started off with a 2nd birthday for one of Joseph's good buddies.  His dad built an amazing pirate ship swing set in their huge backyard so the party was at home to not only celebrate his birthday but also to christen the ship. Super fun party and super cool ship!

After the party and a nap, we enjoyed some time in our backyard staying cool in the pool, playing with the water table and in the cooler, like Nani's house.
Saturday night we met up with friends from the neighborhood and went to a great Mexican restaurant 5 minutes from our home.  The food is good, but the best part is the patio which is enclosed that we had to ourselves.  The 5 toddlers could roam around while the adults enjoyed a somewhat adult-like meal.
I think Joseph is doing "cool dude" with the index finger in the picture!
On Sunday, after church, some bike riding and some harmonica playing...
we had another birthday party to go to.  This one was for a brother and sister and was at an indoor jump house/inflatables place.  It was our first time there and Joseph had a blast!
The weekend was a blast but always seems to go by even faster when we're always on the go!

Just the week...

Although our time in San Diego was fabulous, it is nice to get back into our normal routine at home, be back with Daddy, and have Joseph sleep through the night again! Last week was busy but fun and here are a few pictures from the week...
While in San Diego we all kept calling him a "cool dude" and would do thumbs up to him...he can't quite get the thumb up and puts his index finger in the air instead.  In this picture I called him a cool dude and he gave me the "thumbs up" with the index finger and object in his hand.
So, I have to admit, I am not quite ready for this potty training thing but Joseph is starting to show signs that he is.  While we were in SD he talked about poop and pee constantly and since we have been home he has taken off his diaper and peed on his potty as well as the regular toilet at least once every day!!  I am not pushing it at all but figure we'll just go with it...we'll see what happens!  Hopefully the man fixing the tile by the fireplace didn't mind that he was sitting naked on his potty while he was working!
On Tuesday afternoon we met up wtih friends at Wonderwild which is an indoor play area.  Joseph is getting pretty brave, even though I still get nervous watching him explore!

On Friday afternoon we went over to my friends father-in-law's beautiful home and pool.  Taking a break with popsicles that they were all trying to feed me!
Relaxing after a fun afternoon of swimming!
What a fun week!

Kick, kick, kick

Joseph started swim lessons about 6 weeks ago and we love it.  It is once a week for a 30 minute lesson with 2 other children under the age of 2.  It is a parent and me class and we sing lots of songs but he has made a lot of progress in such a short time.  He loves the water so figured it was a fun activity once a week for us to do and then to also increase his swimming skills and his love for the water.
When we were in San Diego we missed our normal Thursday class but were able to go to a make-up class on Saturday so Rich got in the water with him and I took pictures!
He can swim underwater (with the teacher) for 4 seconds now!

Doing "choo choos" around the side of the pool-his least favorite part!
 Kick, kick, kick with daddy!

Walking across the mat and then jumping off at the end-he loves this part!

Sunday, June 17th

Sunday, June 17th was a special day in our home.  Not only was it Father's Day but it was also Rich's birthday so we turned the day into somewhat of a weekend celebration and made it extra special to be sure he didn't feel robbed since both of his special days fell on one day!
Saturday night we had a date night and went shopping for his birthday and Father's Day presents and went out to dinner. Then on Sunday we did our normal routine of working out, pancakes, church and nap and then met up with friends and went to this great little restaurant in Old Town Spring for a Father's Day celebration

There was a huge, grassy area in between the restaurant and the stage where the live music was so we brought lawn games and was perfect for the kids to run around.
Joseph getting some of that energy out with the band behind him
Joseph returning the hat to Layla
Daddy is so fun!
And just had to include this video of Rich and Joseph from last week!
.
Happy Father's Day and Birthday Rich.  We love you so much!

San Diego in pictures

The following are just random pictures from the week of our great visit in San Diego-lots of them but had to include them all!
Nani thought it would be fun to put Joseph in the cooler to play with water.  Crazy Nani!  :)
Joseph and Poppa dressed alike to go to Aunt Lindsay's graduation
Joseph and Sydney (or "Syd Syd" as he affectionately called her) got along great and Joseph continues to ask for her daily.
Dancing cousins!
My grandma D flew out from Arizona to also surprise Lindsay and it was so wonderful to see her.  She'll be 90 this December and is so active and sharp and was telling stories from 70 years ago which were so neat to hear!  She is "GGD" to the great-grandkids.
Kisses for GGD!

Bath time together in Nani and Poppa's big tub!
Sisters and cousins!
Sweet Sydney!  She took her first steps while we were all there-wanted to keep up with her older cousin!  Can't wait for August to see her again.
The dela kids and grandkids
And one with Cali
Joseph loves Uncle Bubba
Pound for Uncle Brian!
Pound again!
We were cracking up because Sydney had a baby doll that has her hands in a fist and Joseph went up to the baby and said "Pound!" and gave her a pound.  He cracks us up!
Pound for the baby

And some milk for Syd Syd

Nani is in heaven!
Look at how much bigger he is than Sydney!
We went to the outlets in Carlsbad one day and I was doing some shopping, I came out of the store and found that Nani treated him to a ride in the "buh buh" (bulldozer!)
Joseph LOVES dogs!!  He wanted to be by Cali (Ca Ca) all week and they are definitely best buddies.

We celebrated my mom and dad's 40th anniversary!!  40, wow!!  Their big celebration was a Mediterranean cruise after a vacation in Spain, but we are pretty sure they enjoyed the Nothing but Bundt cake (amazing!) and gift from us just as much.  Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad!  Love you both so much!
So handsome!

Joseph loved Nani's muffins!  Basically every time he was in the kitchen (which seemed to be all day long) he would ask for a muffin.  The muffin below came from the freezer so we thawed it out but it was still a little cold so when biting into it he would say "Brrr" and shrug his shoulders.  Hard to get on camera but SO cute!  Tried to capture it in the second picture below but the video shows it better!

And I had to include this cute picture to remember our adventure home...we flew home late Thurdsay night landing in Houston a little before 11.  Rich was travelling that week and was supposed to fly home around 8 that night which in theory was going to work out perfectly-he'd grab dinner and pick us up and we'd all go home together.  However, his flight was cancelled!!  So, as Joseph and I landed I turned on my phone to text him to let him know we were here and about 15 texts come through from him-first saying he was delayed and finally that his flight was cancelled.  After a quick pity party I pulled myself together and figured out a plan-I felt that it was too late to call my friends to pick me up (espeically since the airport is 30 minutes away and didn't have a house key) so after getting all of our luggage, Joseph and I hopped on the first hotel shuttle we found and found a hotel for the night.  Not really the welcome home that we anticipated but it all worked out and Rich flew in early the next morning and we all went home together!  Joseph and I shared a bed that night and when I woke up in the morning they were in my face-although it wasn't the most comfortable night's sleep I couldn't help but smile waking up to these!
What a fun week in San Diego-looking back to being back in August with Rich, too!
