Who would've thought?

That the kitchen cabinets can provide hours of entertainment...
He gets in,
checks things out,

moves around a bit (putting cabinet liner down was a waste of time),
moves around some more,
and then eventually comes out.
Can't get much better than that!

"Cool Hairstyle Little Dude"

While running errands recently, the teenaged cashier at Target looked at Joseph and said, "Cool hairstyle little dude!" All I could do was laugh and told Joseph that it looks like teenagers already think he is cool so highschool should be no problem at all! I have a love-hate relationship with Joseph's hair and we have debated about cutting it, but for some reason there is a part of me that thinks I need to wait until he turns 1...somehow I got that in my head and am having a tough time letting go of it. We really do think he has the coolest hairstyles around!

The Reverse Mullet-It's Business in the back for him but a party up front
The side view
The view from the top
The cowlick, which he is not a fan of, obviously!
The strand/split end look
Parted down the middle
The combover
The "V" (doesn't this one just make you laugh :)
The feathered look
The "I just woke up"/messy bedhead look
And my favorite, the spike
Unfortunately the middle is too long now so it only will stay put if there is banana or some other gooey food substance in his hair! Not sure if gel is appropriate for an 8 month old

Soo big!

Who doesn't love watching a baby play this game? Please ignore my loud voice-I hate hearing myself on camera :)

Caught ya!

I was unloading the dishwasher (or maybe checking Facebook but unloading the dishwasher sounds more mom appropriate and not quite as guilty) and it was really quiet...I peeked around the corner and this is what I found!
Ahhh-how did this happen? When did he grow up so fast?? He has been pulling himself up on us when we are sitting but hadn't done it by himself and I really wasn't thinking he was close to doing so...he proved me wrong! We are on our way to buy gates tomorrow! Of course I wanted to get it on camera so started filming but then got nervous as I was doing so-probably not the smartest thing to do.
And then later in the day he decided to try to hide from me back here-can't believe he snuck between there!
And to finish the day out he figured out that he could open and close the door over and over again and then pull everything out!
Busy day! I needed a glass of wine (or two) by the end of the day!

Aloha in Texas

This past weekend our good friends from Hawaii, the Hoffmans, were in Dallas, Texas, so we met halfway and spent the day together. It was wonderful to see them and we had such an awesome day together. We spent over 4 hours at a water park-it was more of a big pool with a few slides in the back but it was perfect since it had an awesome kids area for Makaela, who is almost 4, and a great area for the babies, Mia and Joseph, who are 1 month apart. It was so fun to see Mia and Joseph together again and how much they have grown in the past few months. They were loving the water and it was a great way for everyone to stay cool! We headed to the Cracker Barrell for dinner (Waco, Texas doesn't have much to offer and after driving through downtown-a little sketchy- we opted for Cracker Barrell). It ended up being a perfect spot for the kids and we actually blended in since there were a bunch of other families with young kids there. Well, not sure if we really blended in-Joseph projectile vomited everywhere after trying a few stars of Mia's (guess he isn't ready for those!) and then Mia had quite the diaper blowout. I'll let Jenn tell that story on her blog but let's just say the little girl was plotting as we were all talking about her! Other than the babies' "issues" they were super cute babbling away at each other and Kaela was entertained with the games at the table and ate like a champ...even Rich was impressed! We had a great day and are looking forward to the Hoffmans heading to Florida in January so we'll be driving distance from one another again. Matt is on his way back overseas to finish his year tour there with the Navy-the Hoffmans have sacrificed so much this year with him being there and we really thank their family for what they are doing for our country. We hope the next three months go by fast for them!
Hopefully Jenn has a better picture of Mia and Joseph together!
Good times at Cracker Barrell!

On Friday, August 5th we welcomed a new addition to the extended delaMontaigne family. After a very LONG labor my sister, Laura, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl, Sydney Elizabeth. Everyone is healthy and happy and Rich and I are thrilled to have a niece and Joseph is so excited for a girl cousin! Joseph and Sydney are 8 months apart (almost to the day), were born in the same hospital and Laura and I labored in the same room (room 305) which is super cool! We are looking forward to these two being so close in age and lots of fun in the future. We know that Dave and Laura are going to be awesome parents and although being so far away from the new Ozeck family right now is killing me, I am so happy for them all and look forward to when we were all together. I can not wait to get my hands on that sweet little girl! Congratulations Ozeck family-we love you!

8 not 14

Joseph turned 8 months on Sunday, August 7th but EVERYONE seems to think he is 14 months. I know I have mentioned this in previous blog posts that he is a big boy and most people think he is older than he really is, but the past few weeks everyone has guessed 14 months (well except for 1 person who said 16 months!) We just crack up when they say 14 months now and next month we have his well baby check and I am anxious to find out if his weight and length really fits the profile of a 14 (or 15 by that time) month old. He continues to make us laugh on a daily basis and is definitely coming into his own personality. Still on his belly with the crawl but if you check out the video you'll see that we are getting glimpses of the real thing! Also, in the video you can hear him "clucking"-he is having so much fun with making different noises these days. We just love the little guy to pieces!
Our little man! 8 months!
His tongue out is the latest thing-it must feel good on his teeth and gums because it is out all the time!

Who needs toys?

No need to spend money on expensive toys for this little guy...he is totally happy with doorstoppers and boxes! He will scoot/crawl from one doorstop to another throughout the house and just flick it over and over. Every once in awhile he tries to eat them so we have to be on the lookout for that but other than that he is as content as can be! If you watch the video you can see that he is still scooting everywhere and uses the right leg and foot to really get around-he is actually starting to form a little blister on his right foot from pushing off with it all the time. It doesn't seem to bother him though and we figure if it does bother him enough then that is probably when he'll get up on all fours. For now though the army crawl gets him to wherever he needs to go...and fast!

New Location!

Yay-you found us! Now that we are settled (for the most part) into our new home in Texas we figured it was time to change the blog address since the old address had us living in Hawaii. We still miss our family and friends dearly (and of course the beauty of Hawaii) but we are happy to be here in Texas and are excited about our future here. Most likely we won't be in Texas FOREVER but we are definitely going to enjoy it while we are here and are looking forward to what the upcoming years bring.
