Christmas Tree Snobs

Rich and I both grew up with live Christmas trees and we plan on keeping this tradition with our family.  We didn't get a tree last year since we were traveling for 2 weeks around the holidays but this year we were excited to find a tree farm where you could go and cut down your own tree.  Last Sunday after church we headed out to the farm in 80 degree weather, so although it didn't have quite that winter feel to it we had a great time.
We grabbed a saw and jumped on the hayride which brought us out to the middle of the field where the trees were.  As we were driving through Rich asked me, "Do you like these ones?  Want to get off here to look for one to cut down?"

And I said to him that I preferred the noble firs so would like to wait for those and he agreed.  The hayride kept going and we weren't finding any noble firs...Rich asked the man driving the tractor if the noble firs were coming up and the man started laughing.  He said that those trees aren't grown in 80 degree weather in Texas-they need a bit cooler weather and are shipped in from Oregon and Washington and that we could buy a pre-cut noble fir tree in the front of the farm.
So, being the Christmas tree snobs that we are, we decided not to cut down our own tree since we prefer the look of the noble fir and rode the hayride back to the beginning, got off without a tree, and walked over to the pre-cut trees and found our perfect tree!
It was a fun day despite not actually cutting it down and we can't wait to decorate this weekend!
