We went beach camping at South Carlsbad beach from Friday July 14th-Sunday, July 16th with neighbors and friends. Our neighbors, the Vuongs, have been camping with a group of people for the past few years and they invited us to join them this summer. We knew five out of the eight families that went so it was fun hanging out with our friends but also meeting some new ones.
We arrived on Friday around 3:00, set up our tent and then made our way down to the beach. For Father's Day we got Rich a pop up tent from Costco which is awesome! It literally took 1 minute to put up and maybe 3 minutes to take down. So easy! It said it slept ten and we had plenty of room with two queen air mattresses and a pack and play!
We had a group campsite with all of the families which was awesome. All of the campsites are on a cliff overlooking the ocean with a walk down stairs to get to the actual beach but our campsite had a fence around it and a separate parking lot so the kids were able to run around and play without anyone worrying about other campers and really made it nice and private. And this was our view!
On Friday night we all were in charge of our own family dinners so we did chicken sausage, baked beans and veggies. I was so excited to find our camping dishes that I decided to pack those but that is the one thing that I will change for next time...paper = all the way!! The extra hassle of cleaning the dishes, cups, utensils wasn't awful but just one more thing to worry about. The kids had such a great time of just playing in the dirt, playing with each other and enjoying the campfire. SO much fun!
Charlotte was the best little camper around! We already knew that she loved the beach but she did great throughout the entire weekend! She even slept pretty well-was up at least one time each night but went back to sleep once fed which I'll call a success. Figure it can only get easier from here so looking forward to many more camping trips with this crew.
On Saturday we were at the beach by 9:30! Nothing beats a full day at the beach. Joseph, Ella and Rich were at the beach from 9:30 to 4:30 only taking a quick one hour lunch break at the campsite. The younger girls and I took a trip to Vons to get more ice and firewood for the site and to break up the day a little bit but we still managed a solid 4 hours of beach time in and had a great, sandy day!
