March is rodeo month in Houston. The Houston livestock and rodeo is at the Reliant Arena downtown for the entire month with all sorts of entertainment, rides, and animals. We decided not to make the trip down this year but it is quite the experience and the area definitely gets into it. Similar to Hawaii during the winter how the talk of the town (and on the news) are the big waves, that is how Houston is during the month of March. Most of the schools in the area have a Texan Day or a Rodeo Day and Joseph's Rodeo Day was on March 6th. They focused on the letter "R" that week, their theme was rodeo and they were encouraged to dress the part the day of.
We borrowed the boots from a friend which worked out perfect especially since when I picked Joseph up he said they weren't comfortable and he wanted his sneakers back on.
Ella has to get in on the photo action, too.
At his preschool during their motor time they had rodeo inspired centers and activities. I was able to volunteer and had Joseph and two of his buddies in my group as we went from center to center.
The first one was "Snakes in a Boot" where they had to throw plastic snakes into a boot.
Then they moved to "riding horses"
The boys had fun switching from one horse to the next as fast as they could.
Then we headed to bandana toss.
Look at that stance!
And the follow-through!
I didn't get a picture of the last center which was a lasso round-up. By that point the boys were getting pretty rowdy but were having a great time.

He had a really good time and I am glad that I was able to experience it with him.
