Our Memorial/Labor Day crew decided to take a break this long weekend from a full weekend trip since both of the other families are expecting their second little ones this fall. So, instead, we enjoyed the extra day off closer to home but still had a great long weekend.
On Saturday after workouts, yardwork and playing at the park, I headed out with girlfriends to dinner at Tommy Bahamas in Market Street and then walked across the street to the Pavillion to see the Backstreet Boys. Kids when you get old enough to read this google them and you'll find that they are quite the group ;) The boy band turned man band (I guess) still had moves and put on a good show. We had fun dancing and singing and reminiscing to all of their hits! The Woodlands really is such an amazing community-the fact that we live ten minutes from an outdoor pavillion that hosts groups such as the Backstreet Boys is awesome! (Mumford and Sons are playing there next week if that makes up for the Backstreet Boys!)
The pavilion lit up with cell phones
On Sunday after a run, church and nap we met up with the Long Weekend Vacation crew and went to Falconwing pool. This pool is less than 5 miles from our house and this was our first time there-another reason why we love the Woodlands! With all of the pools that are here we are still exploring new ones and I think within 5 miles there are 4 pools from our house.
I am thankful that we checked this pool out when Daddy was able to come with us because Joseph (as well as Elsie and Will) loved this big slide and needed an adult to be at the bottom to guide them to the steps which would have been pretty challenging with just myself. THankfully it worked out perfectly and for most of the time the moms hung out at the bottom of the slide guiding the toddlers from the slide to the steps and the dads (and Ella) supervised at the bottom of the stairs.
After swimming we potlucked in the park area and then played on the playground and the soccer field. The kids played hard and by the end of the night were sweaty, dirty messes! It was such a fun afternoon!
On Monday after workouts (catching on to a theme here-with my Ten for Texas race in October and Rich signing up for another Ironman most of our days start off with a run) we headed downtown to the Houston Astros baseball game.
Joseph was SO excited and it was so fun to experience the game through him. They have baseballs that line the street around the stadium and he just kept running up to them saying "A BASEBALL, another one, A BASEBALL!" It was awesome.
He ate about half of the hot dog, the entire bucket of popcorn and had an ice cream. He tried sprite for the first time and did not like it at all.
Thanks to his buddy Will who is a few sizes larger than Joseph, he was outfitted for the game!
And Ella just bounced from one lap to the next!
We love having Daddy around for an extra day so it was a great long weekend!
