St. Augustine

Our second stop in Florida was to visit our dear friends from Hawaii, the Hoffmans, who moved to Florida earlier this year.  We arrived in time for dinner on Monday night to their beautiful home and to a delicious meal!  Joseph and their girls, Makaela and Mia, hit it off immediately and everyone stayed up past their bedtime that first night.  Although we missed seeing Matt who was out of town, our mutual friend from Hawaii, Suzie, was visiting the Hoffmans at the same time so it was an extra bonus to be able to see her, too.
Playing with all of their fun toys!
They became friends, fast!

On Tuesday we were up early for breakfast and then packed up and headed to one of the beaches in St. Augustine.  There was a great splash pad and playground right next to the beach so we played there for awhile
He loves sticking his head into the fountains
and then made our way to the beach.

After a few hours at the beach we were all hungry for a late lunch so we walked across the street to a fun, local spot, Panama Hatties, for lunch, which included fried gator.  Pretty much tasted like chicken but really anything deep fried is pretty tasty.  Joseph and the girls even enjoyed it.
After a bunch of hugs for the kids we headed back to the Hoffmans for a late afternoon nap.
After naps we headed out again to downtown, historic St. Augustine, which was such a cute town right on the water.  We roamed around, window shopped and basically ate our way through.
Makaela (or Kay Kay as Joseph called her) was great with Joseph
Sweet friends
We had great pizza and after a lot of running around on the grassy area by the castle we had to get some ice cream to cool off.
 LOVE this picture!!
 It was a beautiful night!
We were home close to 10 which was another late night for the kiddos but they did great and it was just such a fun day.
We were off early on Wednesday morning to meet up with Rich's family but although our trip was short it was so wonderful to catch up with Jenn, Suzie and the girls and to get a glimpse of their new life in Florida.
Joseph still talks about "Kay Kay" and "Me Me" and we look forward to our next visit-hopefully not too far away.  Come to Texas Hoffmans!!
