We left Friday, June 29th at 5 p.m. and drove the 10 hours to Destin, getting us in around 3 a.m. Joseph slept in the car from 7:30 on but then was pretty wide awake at 6:30 a.m. the next morning. After a delicious breakfast at The Pancakery, a favorite local spot, a walk on the beach and a good afternoon nap we were all feeling rejuvenated after the drive and spent the rest of the day on the beach. We stayed at a great condo right across from the beach which was perfect.
As soon as we got to the beach he ran straight for the water!

Can you see them out there?

Sandcastle fun!
Check out our cool umbrella from the condo. You can see our condo in the background
Saturday night we walked down the street to Pompano Joe's, a delicious seafood restaurant on the beach, and as you can see below I think Joseph liked the scenery better than the food.
This is what he was staring at!! Hilarious.

On Sunday we were up early and went for a long walk and grabbed breakfast on the walk. We then spent the rest of the day on the beach. Joseph fought his nap in the condo so we took him back to the beach and within 10 minutes he was asleep on the beach. He slept for over 2 hours!! The rest of the time he spent mostly in the water (seriously, such a water baby!) or building and then stomping on sandcastles!
That night for dinner we went to a fun southern joint called Jim n Nik's and then checked out the local candy shop for dessert.
On Monday we hit up the beach early and spent a few hours there before we began the almost 5 hour drive to St. Augustine to visit with the Hoffmans. We tired Joseph out at the beach so he took a great nap on the drive!
Destin was beautiful-clear water, white sand-almost felt like being back in Hawaii. Almost!
