Back to Destin

To break up the trip back home, we stopped in Destin for another day after Jacksonville.  We left Jacksonville on Friday after breakfast and drove the 5 hours to Destin.  Joseph took an almost 3 1/2 hour nap which was wonderful and definitely made the trip go by faster-all that time playing in the water and with the second cousins must have taken a toll on him.
We got to Destin in the late afternoon which was pefect for a late afternoon on the beach.
After a few hours on the beach and a delicious Italian dinner we called it a night.  The next morning we went for a swim in the hotel pool before making the long 10 hour trip home.  Instead of driving at night, like we did on the way there, we decided to try the day (which turned into the night) trip.  It really went very well-Joseph took a long 3 hour nap again and we stopped in Mississippi for a long southern lunch which really broke it up.
I did sit in the back seat with him for a few hours to keep him occupied since he has no interest in watching DVDs (guess that is what we get for not letting him watch tv at home!)  Lots of snacks, books and songs kept him entertained and he finally fell asleep again around 8 so the last few hours of the trip were nice and quiet and we were home not too late which was nicer than arriving at 2 in the morning.
Sitting in the big booster seat at the restaurant!  He is 19 months today!!
Had to include this very short video-Joseph has been running and pumping just 1 arm recently and it is just too cute.  We caught him in the act in the grocery store in Mississippi.  We'll have to work on his form before his first marathon!

We are so glad that we made the trip to Florida-couldn't have asked for a better week to go and it was so wonderful to see friends and family and to enjoy our time as a family of 3 as well.
