It's hard to believe that the first day of school for our big kids is really here!! Two kids at the same school with Ella starting kindergarten...how can that be?!? Bittersweet for sure but she is ready and excited and we are optimistic that it is going to be an amazing year for both she and Joseph!!
The day before school Ella and I went to her "meet the teacher party" for an hour in the afternoon. This year she has two teachers who are sharing a contract-Mrs. Pinney and Ms. Sutton. She has been used to having 3 teachers from preschool ao although I don't love this setup, especially for a kindergarten class, I am hopeful that she'll do fine. She was SO excited to meet them so we are definitely off to a great start.
Later that afternoon Joseph and I went to the school for a "Popsicle Posting Party" where he got to see his class list and see friends. He is in Mrs. Leigh's class which is a 2nd/3rd grade combo. We have heard amazing things about Mrs. Leigh and we think that he will be challenged by the older kids so hoping this is a great fit for him. He was a little bummed because his best bud, Jeremy, is no longer in his class and a little anxious about the combo class but he has such a great attitude and outlook on things so is optimistic, too (plus, hearing that Brandon and Alex had her and totally loved her definitely helped!)
That night I caught Ella "reading" The Night Before Kindergarten to Charlotte-so sweet. She was SO excited!
Here we go!! The next morning!!! Lots of excitement and everyone was ready to go!
Sweet kiddos. May they be blessed with a wonderful, safe school year.
Our kind, brave, hard working 2nd grader!
Our kind, brave, hard working kindergartener!!
Walking to school!
Really they spent most of the time running!
Joseph and his teacher, Mrs. Leigh!
Ready to learn!
Sweet beanie all lined up and all smiles!
We walked with Julia for part of the way!
And found Jeremy on the way into school, too!
Love that a friend caught this picture of us...how we roll into school every day!
There was a showing for our home that afternoon so we opted for Panera at the park which was a perfect way to end the day!! Both kids had a great first day and are looking forward to going back so definitely a success!!
Happy school year!!
