Out like a lion

Although the saying for the month of March is, "In like a lion, out like a lamb", in our home the end of the month definitely resembled more of a lion!  The last week in March started out calm...Ella did some modeling for us in a few adorable ensembles.
How cute is this onesie?  And doesn't the jean jacket and bow just make the outfit?!  Love it!
And then the week got a little bit crazier.  On Thursday we attempted the annual blue bonnet pictures with the Conley girls.  Although the pictures came out relatively decent, it was more of the experience of the day that is to be remembered.  At one point, Ella was screaming because she needed changing (the girl does not like a poopy diaper!), Norah was screaming because she didn't want to wear clothes, Olivia was crying because she wanted to wear Claire's dress, Claire wanted to hold Ella and then there was Joseph.  His shorts were too big since he wasn't wearing a diaper so as he was running through the bluebonnets with his pants steadily falling down with every step...exposing all of himself to everyone at the park. Thankfully us moms have a pretty good sense of humor so we all just laughed and got through the moment but I am sure that some of the others that were taking more serious pictures than we were weren't quite as amused.  Always a good time!
All he wanted to give me was his "cheese" face.

Thanks to Carrie I was able to get some good smiles from Ella!
After the bluebonnet experience, is when our nice, calm month started resembling more of a lion. We headed home in hopes for a good nap which should have happened since Joseph was worn out from playing all morning, but, unfortunately, that wasn't what he had in mind though.  After 45 minutes of watching him play in his crib (and by play I mean jumping up and down, doing downward dog, summersaults and talking to himself) he started crying so I went up to remind him that he should be napping.  As soon as I walked in his room he popped up and says, "Hi Lisa!"  My frustration with his lack of nap was erased as I couldn't stop giggling to myself-did he really just say that!?  I was able to get him to lie down and thought that he would definitely be out now so figured I'd go take a shower.  No more than 2 minutes in the shower I hear, "Hi Mommy Lisa, I came downstairs."  Eeeek!  Back in October he showed us that he could climb out of the crib on the lowest setting but I really didn't want to transition him to the toddler bed with a baby on the way so a friend recommending just putting the mattress on the floor in the crib.  It worked great for four months but no we have no choice.  Thursday night since he didn't nap after climbing out and coming downstairs he passed out no problem that night so we didn't worry about him climbing out and Rich slept upstairs just in case if he did that night.  He stayed in until 6:30 the next morning when I heard him at the top of the stairs, "Mommy, I want to come downstairs!"  Rich converted the crib to the toddler bed over the weekend and it is definitely a transition but he is doing alright.  It takes about an hour to get him down for a nap with many trips upstairs but he has napped every day since being in it-although his naps are much shorter at least it is something.  He also has been waking up a few times during the night (thanks to Daddy who has taken on this responsibility) and has had early morning wake up calls (this mroning was 5:30 a.m.) but we're hoping it is just a transition time and that soon enough he'll be back to his 7:30 to 6:30 nighttime and 2-2.5 hour naps.  One can wish, right?  We'll see.

To round out the week, on Friday we celebrated the birthdays of Claire and Norah and had a great time at the princess party.  Kolton and Kason showed up with these awesome knight helmets that Joseph took to instantly and Kolton was nice enough to give him his.  Joseph kept it on for the entire party and pretty much for the rest of the day!

Ella had fun at the princess party, too!

We finished the week Saturday morning with another birthday party and time at the splash pad and then  started our Easter festivities...we'll save those for the next entry!  What a great month!
