Our annual beach camping trip with friends at Carlsbad State Beach Park has become one of our favorite summer traditions! We all look forward to it as soon as the site is booked in January and it is always the best time. This year did not disappoint and it has actually gotten easier and more fun as the years pass and the kids have gotten older. Thinking back on our first year and how we camped with a 10 month old just sounds crazy to me! Ha!! this year we went from Saturday to Monday and although the weather wasn't the typical sunny San Diego all weekend long, it was kind of a nice change and nobody seemed to really mind.
I cracked up when I saw Julia's backpack that was "packed and ready to go". She is the sweetest!
As soon we got the tents up we headed down to the beach for a few hours before sunset, although there wasn't much of a sunset either night due to the clouds.
Our setup for the next 2 days...love it!!
The kids just had the best time! Everyone got along so well the entire weekend and they just played so hard!
The beach setup for Sunday!
Linz, Finn, Laura and Cole all came to join us on Sunday afternoon for a few hours which was great!
Ella and Joseph were in the water basically the entire time we were on the beach. All of our kids love the water but they just don't want to get out!
Charlotte took a little nap on the beach which was nice to have her snuggled up on me, until I had to go to the bathroom!
The nap rejuvenated her and she was ready to party for the rest of the night!
We had a few "new" families join us this year and it really worked out great. The Cawlfields and the Duggers were great additions and the kids just played so great together and the adults all hit it off, too. And, of course, we are so thankful for the amazing friendships with the Laugesens and the Vuongs and we just love watching our kids grow up together!
Love, love, love these boys and their friendships!
We stayed for a few extra hours on Monday, just our family, like we have done in the years past and the sun actually came out for us then. We've really enjoyed finishing out the trip with just our family time and it just makes us leave on such a high note. We hit up a taco shop on the drive home, and then also ice cream so we really ended on a sweet spot!
Love how they're all so focused independently in this picture but I was able to get them all in the same shot.
The perfect ending to the perfect weekend!
So grateful for a weekend full of laughs and memories!
