We celebrated our main man on Sunday, June 17th!! Rich turned 44 and it was Father's Day so it was an extra special day in our home and we loved celebrating him all day long and showing him some extra love!! We decided to separate the two celebrations so the morning was his birthday celebration and then the afternoon was his Father's Day celebration which we shared with Poppa, Uncle Dave and Uncle Paul. It was a day filled with lots of excitement, love and fun!!
He came home after his long run to our home decorated for his birthday! We opened cards and gifts and then made our way to IHOP. So random, I know! A few weeks ago Rich and the kids started talking about IHOP and how we had never been so we decided that we'd go on his birthday. It was a TOTAL disappointment (although I'm not sure why our expectations were so high!). None of the kids, well, except for maybe Charlotte, liked their pancakes. Joseph's were too chocolate-y for him, and the girls had way too much frosting on theirs (they ordered some sort of cupcake pancake), my omelet was tasteless and Rich's steak and eggs were gross. Although, now that I am writing this maybe we all just ordered the wrong things! If we had just stuck to the basic pancake maybe we would have all done ok. Ha! In any case, we can check IHOP off of our list and never go back. The funniest thing is that Joseph is totally turned off to pancakes now because of the experience!! After breakfast we came home and got things ready for our Father's Day celebration that afternoon.
I got Rich tickets to see the comedian, Dane Cook, the following weekend at Harrah's resort which was a lot of fun!! He was funny and it was a great night out.
Charlotte napped while we got things ready for the Father's Day celebration while the other kids stayed busy creating artwork, helping set up and playing.
Everyone came over around 2 and it was actually a little cooler than it had been for the past week, so we took our party out to the cul de sac and had a fun game of baseball before we jumped in the pool!
Charlotte was down in the ready position!
Charlotte and Finn in the "ready" position!
So fun!
Then we all jumped in to cool off or actually most everyone hung in the spa to warm up!
After a delicious Mexican meal we helped Poppa open up his Father's Day gift from all of us-tickets to the Notre Dame vs. Navy football game this fall with all of the other guys. I'm sure they'll have a great time!!
We had such a wonderful day celebrating Rich's birthday and Father's Day. We love him so much and are so thankful for everything that he does for all of us. We couldn't ask for a better role model, daddy, and husband. We love you!!!
