Father's Day weekend

I had a procedure done on June 9th to remove a mole that came back as early stages of melanoma and  had 20 stitches in my upper left thigh which resulted in an infection and a good amount of pain over the weekend of Father's Day so Daddy definitely went above and beyond on his "special" weekend!
I sent Joseph and Daddy out on Saturday morning to pick up food for the weekend (all of which Daddy cooked) and on a few other errands and they came home with these pictures!  Fun at HEB!

Joseph and Daddy were able to keep their plans of hiking, fishing and camping once they helped out with getting Ella settled (they weren't convinced that she was ready to go on their annual Father's Day trip-hopefully next year!)
Heading out for the hike and fishing
They "hiked" about a 1/2 mile to one of the lakes in our development to fish
Joseph's fishing pole was part of Daddy's gift for Father's Day last year

Once they returned from the fishing trip, the plan was to grill out but Daddy had a craving for pizza so they decided to pick up pizza instead...it was his special weekend!  They ate it outside on the picnic table so I guess that still makes it acceptable for camping!  As they were eating their smores that they cooked on the grill for dessert, I was sitting on the couch inside and I heard the following conversation:
Joseph:"What is your favorite part of the day, Daddy?"
Daddy:"Camping with you, Joseph."
Joseph:"That's my favorite part of the day, too."
Awww!  I melted!
After dinner, eating smores, and coming inside for a bath (Joseph desperately needed one!) they headed out to the tent for the night.  Last year Rich ended up coming into the house around 2 a.m. for the fan so he set it up early this year and said it was pretty comfortable.  Daddy read a few stories and Joseph was asleep even before the sun set.  He slept through the entire night and has asked numerous times since then if they could go camping again!  Such a fun Father's Day tradition!
On Sunday, Father's Day, Joseph and Daddy were up around 6:30 from their camping experience and Daddy made himself a special Father's Day breakfast (sorry, Daddy, I'll make it up to you next year!)
Ella was a lot of help while they were taking down the tent and putting away the camping supplies.
That afternoon the kids played in the pool while Daddy worked on the yard
Daddy grilled that night for dinner which was delicious.  Thankfully I had completed the shopping for Father's Day prior to the procedure so at least we had his gifts ready, but which I didn't get any pictures of.  Oh well.  Thanks to an amazing Daddy-not only when Mommy isn't feeling well but every day of the year.  We are so thankful for you and for all of the hard work that you do for our family.  Love you lots and we hope that you know how much we love you every day of the year, not just on Father's Day.
