When we found out that we'd be moving to San Diego, one of the first things that I did was to research preschools for Joseph. Being that it was halfway through the summer already I didn't have very high hopes but we got lucky! There was one spot left in the afternoon class at RBCPC (Rancho Bernardo Community Presbyterian Church) Preschool and this preschool was highly recommended from friends as well as co-workers of my mom's so we signed up!
There was a parent night on August 25th that I attended and then Joseph and I went to meet the teacher on August 26th. He was a little nervous walking in but once he got into the classroom he made himself right at home. They have a pet fish named Nemo that he was excited about and he talked a lot about his teachers Mrs. Valdes and Mrs. Aubain before his first day so that was a good sign. His first day was on Monday, August 31st and he was still a little nervous before but he walked right in, gave me a hug and was good! When I picked him up that first day he was in quite a mood so not sure if he was overtired or just overwhelmed by the change but thankfully a swim in the pool changed his mood around. By Tuesday he was asking to go back to school and he truly seems to like it. The afternoon program goes from 12:30 to 3:30 so it is definitely a different schedule than the previous two years in Texas which went from 9:00 to 2:00 but so far we are liking it. They keep the playground open for an hour after so that has been great because we have been staying and playing so I've met a few moms and he gets to know his classmates better and Julia and Ella get to play, too. We are looking forward his last year of preschool being a great year and can't wait to see how much he learns and grows in the year. (I don't even want to think about next year sending him off to kindergarten...)
Since our chalkboard is still in Texas I don't have a sign to go with him but here he is and he told me that he wants to be a ninja turtle when he grows up!
Ella wanted her picture taken on the first day of school and Julia photo bombed it!
Getting ready for circle time on the first day
A quick jump on the little trampoline on the way out on the first day of school.
And, Ella, sweet Ella. As we were saying bye to Joseph she started pouting and looking really sad and saying "I miss Joseph". By the time we got to the car she was a total mess crying so hard and just repeating that she misses Joseph. It was so sad but so funny and sweet all at the same time. She calmed down by the time we got back to my parent's house and took a good nap and then was SO excited to pick him up!! The girls have been taking their naps while Joseph is at school so it has worked out pretty well so far-the time goes by super fast but it works!
Have a great year at RBCPC, Joseph!!
