Labor Day

Rich was here in San Diego over Labor Day and my mom and dad actually went to New York for the long weekend so we were in charge of Cali girl and kept watch on the house for them.  Like any good kids would do, we threw a few parties ;)  On Friday night we had Rich's co-worker and her family over to swim and bbq which was fun-they literally live 2 minutes away so we've seen them a few times since we've been at my parents and they are very nice so that has worked out well.  On Saturday we had another crazy party having the Ozecks over for the day to swim and bbq.  We sent Nani and Poppa this picture letting them know that things were getting pretty wild while they were gone.  It was a great day for the pool!
After the Ozecks left, we went to Lake Hodges which is a reservoir with a hiking trail around it.  Joseph borrowed Sydney's balance bike and Sydney gave a tricycle to Ella so they both have been wanting to ride.  It was a beautiful evening and nice to explore the area.
I had Julia in the ergo for most of the walk but towards the end she was getting antsy so Daddy came to the rescue!
On the final hill, almost back to the car, Joseph took a pretty good spill over the handlebars of the bike.  He just got too much speed down the hill and the balance bike couldn't handle it.  A few tears but he was tough and was pretty excited to show everyone his road rash!
On Sunday we met the Martins (minus Matt) at Moonlight Beach in Encinitas.  It was a perfect beach day and we were there early enough where we all got parking and it wasn't too crowded.  This was our first time going to this beach and we LOVE it!  We will definitely be back here, especially if we end up living in San Marcos since it will only be about 15 minutes from us.
Julia is ready to go!!
Not wanting any help from Ella.
These two had a blast together!!
Seriously, how awesome is this picture?!
 Wipe out!!
Ella totally loves Abby and Abby is great with her!
There was some serious digging going on here today.
She likes to get right in the middle of it all!  Thankfully Laura told me about the baby powder secret that gets ALL sand off of bodies so put a little bit of that on her before we leave and she is as good as new!  For some reason though our car is always a disaster filled with sand after every beach trip though.
That afternoon we were back in the pool for awhile.  Ella's new favorite thing to do is to swim naked in the pool so we normally let her for a little bit before she gets out.
We sent this picture to Nani and Poppa, too!  Crazy naked girl in their pool!!
A little love for Cali-dog!  The kids loved taking care of her (Daddy still not so much ;)
This is totally gross but he was so proud of it!  He collected all of Cali's poop by himself-I promise that I tried to do it/help him but he was insistent on doing it by himself.  He did a great job but we were sure to wash his hands EXTRA well after just to be safe!
On Monday, Labor Day, we headed down to Coronado early and spent about 4 hours on the beach at the naval base there.  It was great because it wasn't very crowded and the kids just had a blast.  We brought the kites and it was a perfect kite flying day.
 Ready for the water!
Hanging in the shade for a bit with Julia.
Heading out-such a production!!  A great way to end Labor Day!!
