March Pre-Pandemic

Along with our weekend getaway to Texas, we were able to sneak in a few other things in March before the Corona virus pandemic hit and we were put on stay at home orders.

Here are some picture of the first almost 2 weeks in March looked like:

Joseph finally was able to play his first baseball game!!  He hadn't gone back to his final doctor's appointment but we decided that it was close enough so we let him play.  Rich made a makeshift sling out of a tshirt over his head and shoulders to give him some support and he said he felt great.  He was excited to get out there with the team and play again.  He had a few hits, a few strikeouts but we are glad that he was able to play in 3 games at least before everything ended due to the corona virus.  Go Padres!

Charlotte and I just hanging out one morning!

And then Char and Finn hanging out the next morning.  They love their days with Nani and Poppa!

It's so crazy to look at these pictures now and think that this was the last gymnastic picture before the pandemic...but, here it is.  On this day never did I think that this would be her last class for a long time!  Working on her backwards summersault and looking awesome!

Ella has been saying that she wants to part her hair to the side (like the picture below) and always is asking me how I like it.  I tell her she looks beautiful but I am used to her normal part but however she wants to wear it is fine with me-this was before school one morning in the parking lot, but she did end up switching it back before she walked into school...thankfully ;)

Char and I just hanging out..looking back now, I did love my one on one time with her.  Although I am so grateful for the time with all of the kids during the pandemic and I know that Charlotte has loved having them all home, the time with just her was so special, too, and I am so thankful that I kept her home this past year from preschool.

Charlotte and I made our weekly trip to Costco and we were shocked to see a line outside of it...the hoarding of toilet paper has begun!  We stocked up on just our normal essentials, especially after being gone for the weekend, but people were buying things like crazy.

 Afternoon showtime with the girls!

Our friends, the Garza family, from Texas, were beginning their spring break trip in San Diego and came to our home for dinner on Wednesday night.  Rich and I had just seen Leti the weekend prior but it was so fun to have the families get together and to see Ricky as well.  We had the best evening with them and sure made us miss their sweet family.

Ella and Victoria are only 6 weeks apart and were such sweet, little toddler friends together in Texas so it was so fun to see them together!  And, it was so great to meet Andrew!

We have pictures of Joseph and Alexandra playing soccer together at the age of 4 and look at them now!

The whole crew!  They had such a blast!

Char is still struggling with staying in her bed all night long and most nights normally ends up in ours taking the entire thing over!

Always selfies on my phone from Julia!

The pool is coming along!!  Rainy day view...

Spent a few hours at the park on a cloudy Saturday afternoon.  We found out on Friday that school would be closed for the next three weeks due to trying to flatten the curve of Corona virus-we were all trying to wrap our minds around what this is really going to look like but I am hopeful that they'd be back in school in the three weeks and that we'll just take it day by day and enjoy the time slowing down as a family.  The kids are looking at it more as a vacation from school so they may be in for a surprise on Monday morning when I show them the schoolwork they have to do :).

Rich and I had double date nights this weekend, which never happens (especially after a weekend away last weekend!). On Friday night we went to the Martins to celebrate Matt's 40th birthday (no pictures but it was nice to catch up with them) and then on Saturday went to his running buddy's wife's 50th birthday party.  It was a 70s theme so I went as a disco girl and Rich went as the construction worker from the Village People-his outift was a hit especially when YMCA came on the headphones (it was a silent disco party where everyone was given headphones and you could choose one of three channels to listen to-kind of strange but fun!)

The kids are helping me bake St. Patrick's Day themed cupcakes for our final get together with friends for a long time...little did we know at this time how long it truly would be!  We did lunch and cul de sac time with the Laugesens and the Vuongs on Sunday, March 15th since we hadn't been able to get together for the past few Fridays (and to celebrate Joseph being cleared by the doctor 3 days earlier so he can now resume normal cul de sac playing!!) It was a fun afternoon and a great way to enter into this new week that was going to be filled with uncertainty and a new normal.

The first two weeks of March were full with preparing for our trip to Texas, then the trip itself, myself still recovering from my injury, returning from Texas and being bombarded with the normal routine but also so much new information about Corona virus and what was going to happen to our country in the upcoming days, weeks, months...

There is so much uncertainty in the world right now but we are thankful that we are safe and healthy and that we have one another as we go into the second half of this month.
