Moments in March

We had a pretty quiet March, well as quiet as things can be with four kids under 6, but just enjoyed the month with the day to day activities, hanging with friends and family and appreciating our time together.  Rich continued to travel every other week this month for work so we looked forward to having some low key weekends just together as our family.
We've also really enjoyed watching Charlotte develop into a mobile, very interactive little one, too...except when she's sleeping peacefully! I had to snap this sweet picture of her as she dozed back to sleep in our bed early one Saturday morning.
Kicking off March with our Fun Friday in the cul de sac on March 3rd.  We are so thankful for our awesome neighbors and all of these BOYS for Joseph to play with!!!  They have such a great time together!
Rich and Joseph met up with the Ozecks for a special, private tour of the USS Lake Erie on March 4th which was a fun event for them.
While they were checking out the ship, the girls and I enjoyed a special afternoon which they chose to walk over to the Westwood Club and spend some time on the playground together!

We've been meeting up with friends at the club one day a week after school which is a nice way to break up the week.  Julia is so independent and so determined to hang with the big kids and she fits right in!
Even Charlotte enjoys playing with friends.
On March 12th I took the kids to a birthday party and Joseph lost his FIRST tooth at the party!!!  It had been wiggly for awhile and the excitement and anticipation of when it would fall out had the entire family looking forward to it!!  At the party, after eating a hot dog, he realized that it was gone and had no idea where it was!!  We're assuming in his stomach but he also thought that it could had possibly fell out while in the bounce house so he included both options in his note to the tooth fairy.  Thankfully she didn't seem to mind that the tooth wasn't under his pillow and still left him a dollar and some quarters underneath his pillow!!
 Entertaining Charlotte on March 14th.
On March 16th at the library story time they had a craft to make necklaces out of Fruit loops and shamrocks for St. Patrick's Day.  Both girls really enjoyed the cereal and were somewhat disappointed when I told them that I couldn't buy it but liked the special treat!
On March 17th, Joseph had his Fun Run at school.  The Fun Run is a fundraiser for the school and Joseph was really excited about it.  My mom met us at school that morning because I volunteered to hand out water and mark laps for the class but Ella had to be at school at 8:45 and the fun run started at 8:30 so she took Ella to school.  Ella was not happy to leave but once they were on their way she was fine.  The little girls and I had a great time cheering on the runners and helping out-I love being able to be at these events!  Joseph took this very seriously and once that whistle blew he was in race mode!!  He ran 21 laps (a little over 4 miles!!!!) and I had to really get on him to stop to drink water.  This picture was taken at his last lap which he was forced to walk as a cool down and he looks beat!! I sent it to Rich and he texted back, "Make him drink water!" and I responded with, "I'm trying!!"  He loved it and was actually a little upset because his best buddy, Kai, ran one more lap than he did so he has a goal for next year already!  He and Kai were the top two finishers for all of kindergarten and received medals at a Friday Flag later this month.  We are so proud of him!
He and Kai before the fun run.
 Enjoying popsicles after!
Joseph receiving his medal for the top 2 kindergarten runners at Friday Flag!
Joseph wanted to take Charlotte for a wagon ride on March 18th after his game.  She loved it!
We are starting to enjoy the pool more regularly now that spring is here!  Lots of dabbin' fun on March 19th.

March has meant that soccer is in full swing so we have spending a lot of time at the fields, with practice on both Thursday and Friday nights and games on Saturdays.   The girls love going to practice since there is a great playground there and they have become really friendly with two younger sisters of other players on Joseph's team.  So, other than the later nights for dinner and bed we are really enjoying the season!
Jules happy on the playground!
Getting ready for his game on March 25th.
Hanging out with baby Charlotte after his game!
For whatever reason, in the past month Joseph and Ella have become very interested in always wanting to carry and lift Charlotte up to a standing position.  I am thinking that it is because she is more mobile and they just want to "help" her along...she normally has the biggest smile on her face when they get a hold of her but often need reminders that she is still a baby and is very fragile!
Typical afternoon of wrestling/playing/hanging out together.

Ready to ride with her new helmet!!  She had been using Joseph's hand me down Spiderman helmet and although it didn't bother her in the least, the helmet was no longer fitting her growing head so it was time for a new one.  She is very happy with the Elsa crown choice and thankfully Ella actually didn't say anything about being jealous of it (which I was worried about since her helmet is just floral.)  All good though!
On March 26th we headed up to Nani and Poppa's after church for a family dinner.  It was a fun afternoon as always just hanging out and playing together.
Nani and Poppa gave the kids matching outfits for Easter and the girls immediately went to put theirs on.  I mean, seriously, how cute are they!?!
On March 28th, Mrs. Clark sent me a text with Joseph's journal entry for the day.  They are practicing writing non-fiction entries and she was proud of his entry for the day so sent it to me!  It has been so special having her as his teacher for his first year of school and that she does things like this!  What I love even more though is seeing his progress-to think that his first journal entry only had two words which were both spelled incorrectly is pretty incredible!!  Joseph also received his third quarter progress report this month and he is doing so well!!  We are so proud of his progress and more importantly are so happy that he loves school and learning.

Bath time fun on the 28th with the girls!  Attempted to get a sweet picture of the three of them all looking at the camera but no such luck but had to include a few anyways!  I hope that these girls are always the best of friends and normally they are, but it is amazing to see that they already do have sibling squabbles.  One day this month, Ella was coloring at the table and Julia wanted to sit real close to her which Ella needed a little bit more space, so I asked Julia to give her a little room and she responded in a very whiny voice, "But, Mom, Ella is my best friend."  It was too cute!!  Since then it has progressed to saying things such as "You aren't my best friend" if they are disagreeing...and, so it begins!!!
And then the dabs began again...always!
One day this month we were talking about our middle names and Ella made me laugh after I reminded her that her middle name was Jane by saying, "But, Mom, I like 'Beanie'"  Hope this nickname sticks!
Nothing cuter than a clean, naked baby!!

We are in the process of determining the most ideal situation for the legos that Joseph has accumulated over the past few years so I had to snap a picture of this one evening because many days this is what our family room looks like!  Obviously, this is NOT an ideal situation especially with a baby on the move but this is often the reality. I have been "pinterest-ing" lego tables and storage a lot lately so hopefully get it figured it out soon!
To finish out the month here is a sweet picture of Julia at a Stroller Strides playdate after class on the lsat day of March. Love this sweet girl and the special time with her and Charlotte while Joseph and Ella are at school.
We are so thankful for all of the big and little moments with our crew.
