New Year's Eve turned into a sleepover so the boys stayed here and the girls were at the Ozeck's so on New Year's Day the girls started their day at horses with Syd and Miss Bernadette, which they love. Aunt Laura is always so nice to bring them every once in awhile and the kids always enjoy it!
Then we headed to Nani and Poppa's that afternoon for another Christmas celebration since we could all be together today. The gift card game, Christmas jammies, presents and Pop's sauce always makes for a great day!
Hanging at a baseball tournament one Saturday afternoon-these girls do a great job of entertaining themselves!
Unfortunately, Covid took up a chunk of our January! Charlotte tested positive on January 16th after waking up in the middle of the night with a fever. By mid afternoon that day (Sunday) she was seriously fine-running around playing, eating, acting totally normal but so began our almost 2 week bout of dealing with it. At this time, masks are still mandatory in California and the rule at school was that if you weren't vaccinated and someone in your family tests positive then you have to stay out of school until ten days after the person with Covid is better...crazy, right?! So, everyone was home immediately and I was hoping that everyone else got it sooner rather than later so we weren't home forever!! We didn't keep Charlotte quarantined especially since everyone was out of school regardless and by Thursday all of the kids tested positive. Joseph was the second, then Julia and then Ella finally on Thursday. All of the kids had different symptoms but thankfully all were mild and within a day or two everyone felt pretty much back to normal. Neither Rich nor I felt sick but we didn't test ourselves since we just didn't feel the need to be tested every day iif we felt fine and I had to be home anyways and Rich just kept his distance from people at work. Charlotte was back to school the following Monday and Joseph on Tuesday, Julia on Wednesday and finally Ella on Thursday. And then I had Friday without any kids for a few hours! Thankfully Hunter kept us fully occupied at home (for the most part) and the kids were all amazing. We swam a lot, jumped on the trampoline a lot, played in the preserve, did a lot of playing inside...we made it work!
This one is actually from before Covid hit us...I forgot a mask but found Rich's in the car so sent him this photo from Costco.
Rich was working in the preserve while Hunter was resting in the shadows watching him.
Rich made his mom's sauce one day.
The first night we had smores and ate outside. And I'm pretty sure did that a few more times over the enxt two weeks, too.
Some baseball practice!
Dog with a view!
Climbing the walls on day one! Ha!
So much puppy love!!!!
Joseph was finally out of quarantine so he headed to hike Battle Mountain one afternoon with Cole.
These next two are from the last few days of our quarantine when Ella and Julia were still testing positive but were feeling totally fine. Both girls were upset since they couldn't go back to school when they felt totally fine and the fact that they had to stay at home as soon as Charlotte was positive meant that they had been home for almost a full two weeks so they were missing school. We headed to the beach for a day to walk and to get out and it was a great distraction!
We also all made it to Coronado to hang with Uncle Bruce and Nancy at their pool and the kids got really sandy on the beach one day which was great!
My goal for 2022 was to make it to the beach for sunset at least once a month. At the end of January the girls and I (Joseph was at baseball) headed down for dinner and sunset. It was beautiful, as always, and a great way to finish out the month!
And here is a sunset one night in January from our house! Great way to start off 2022!
