October Happenings

October was a busy month filled with lots of soccer, which I just realized that I don't have any pictures of from this month (oops!), and all the fun leading up to Halloween, which I'll save for another post, so there are a lot of random pictures in this one from our day to day life.
Charlotte has really grown up this month.  She is super steady on her feet and wants to walk everywhere.  She is also becoming more verbal every day. On October 3rd she said "car" and on the 20th she said "baby" for the first time and somewhere mid October she started saying "puppy" and making a "woof woof" sound.  She LOVES puppies (from a distance at least) and can often be distracted by saying, "See the puppy" even if there isn't one there!  On October 22nd she woke up and  all morning wanted to shake hands with whoever would do so.  She was so cute...shed just walk up to you with a big smile and her hand out and would stand there until you shook her hand and said, "Its' nice to meet you" and then shed walk away from you with a big smile and then come back and do it all over again.  So much fun! She points to herself and pats herself on the chest when she wants something that just makes me laugh every time I see her do it.
Lots of cul de sac time now that we are back in the school routine.  We are outside every day except for Wednesday when we have soccer practices.  Even on Thursday when we have church school from 3:00-4:15 we normally rush home to get outside to play from 4:30 to 5ish.  They do LOVE the cul de sac time!!
Ella has a special bond with Brandon and I often find them walking in front of everyone else like this.  I'm pretty sure he can't understand half of what she says at times but they are definitely buddies.
We are in the swing of dance on Thursdays and the girls are really enjoying it!
Pretty sunset on October 6th above our pool.
Sweet blue eyes on October 6th.
That night we were invited to Patty's house (neighbor up the street) to jump on their trampoline and to roast smores.  Charlotte had to get in on the trampoline action and of course she loved it!
Julia got into my lipstick on October 7th and came out looking all done up!
Joseph's school sends home experiments for families to complete monthly and the kids LOVED this months' experiment and I love these pictures that I got of them!  The experiment consisted of  emptying a tea bag and then lighting it on fire and it watching it float up in the air...called tea bag ghosts, just in time for Halloween.  So much fun!

I definitely enjoy my time with the little girls when the bigger kids are at school-I feel like the weekdays are spent running from place to place with a little bit of time in between so I try to really enjoy those times before the next round of chaos begins.
Linz and I have been running Miramar on Wednesdays this month together.  Since Nani has been traveling for most of October, Linz and Finn have been coming over to watch the girls while I volunteer in the morning at Joseph's class and then we head to Miramar together.  The babies normally fall asleep which makes for a peaceful run; although tends to mess up naps for the rest of the day but that's ok.  After the run we've been feeding the ducks and hanging out down by the lake which they love.
 Hugs for Julia

Our neighbor gave Julia a witch costume which she LOVES so she no longer wants to be Batgirl for Halloween and now plans on going as the witch!
Ella brought home this gem from preschool on October 15th!  Our family!!
Swinging at the Westwood club on October 16th.
Daddy was traveling on October 17th so we sent him this picture before bed.
Back at Miramar with Linz and Finn on the 18th.
About a year ago we were driving to Nani and Poppa's house and Rich ate an ENTIRE apple (core, stem and all) and the kids still talk about it often so  when Joseph ate this apple all the way to the core he wanted to send Daddy a picture since he was in San Jose.
Then Julia got in on the action, too.
And, Ella just wanted her picture taken.
Hanging out on Penelope Pig on October 20th.

And then we headed outside to play and snapped a few pictures of her in our neighbor's yard checking out their Halloween decorations.  She's getting so big!!!
Finn spent the night at our house on October 20th since Linz and Paul went to Maryland for a wedding.  He did great and we all loved having him.
Sweet Julia ready for church on the 22nd.
We had some crazy hot weather at the end of October so instead of cul de sac time after school on the 23rd we had the neighbors over to swim!  Gotta love a Monday pool party!
That night I went to Draem Dinners which was a fundraiser for the elementary school with Libby, Karyn and Jen.  It was a fun night and we each made 4 meals for our families.
Aunt Hollie made the girls some bows for Halloween so I had to snap some sweet pictures of them modeling.

Joseph had red ribbon week at his school during the last week of October and on Thursday the 26th it was College/Favorite team day so we pulled out an old Notre Dame shirt from my Grandma D that he wore and loved.  He had outgrown his West Point gear and he doesn't have any Geneseo shirts (oh my!) so this worked out perfectly.
During the girls' dance classes we sometimes go inside to the play room which is a nice break from the playground and Charlotte found this fun little seat!
 Julia just hanging out!
And, then there is Charlotte.  Into EVERYTHING!!!
Getting ready to do a polar bear plunge on October 29th.  It was cold but they wanted to go swimming that morning before church...so they did!!  They only lasted about fifteen minutes but had a blast.
Love these awesome kiddos and the joy that they bring to our home day in and day out.
