Nani's visit

Nani came to visit us for a few days before Thanksgiving which is always such a nice treat! We spent Saturday going to a birthday party in the morning and then we left the big kids at home with Daddy and did some shopping for the afternoon.  (Costco just opened in The Woodlands so we had to check it out!)
On Sunday we went to church, and then to run club and to the Lighting of the Doves.
Run Club was fun since two of our family friends were also there.  Ella didn't run the entire time but was sure to get down and run when we got close to where they received their marks.  I finally got her on video (see below)-too cute!  She just goes and goes and goes!
We had to have an impromptu lesson on honesty with Joseph at the end of run club.  Daddy looked at his arm and noticed that he had 5 marks when he had only run 4 laps.  He definitely had a very guilty look on his face and after talking with him he understood what he did wrong and had to report to the leader his correct amount of laps.  Hopefully we don't run into this issue again!
This was our third year at Lighting of the Doves and had a blast again this year!  Both Ella and Joseph loved playing in the snow and even after Ella ended up falling in slush getting her pants all wet she wanted to go back in and keep playing. I think the fact that it was about 70 degrees outside definitely helped. Joseph and Daddy were throwing snowballs at one another and Daddy ducked out of the way and Joseph totally nailed a lady right in the chest with the snowball going straight down her shirt.  Thankfully she was  a good sport about it-we've always said that he has a good arm!
 Snowball fight!!
Ella didn't have any interest in getting her picture taken with Frosty.
We met up with our friends, the Enias, to enjoy the fireworks and shaved ice (gotta love 70 degrees at the end of November) and for the firework show which was amazing.  Ella was freaked out by it, Joseph said it was too loud and Julia was the only one who really didn't seem bothered by it-she was wide eyed staring at it!  The Woodlands really does a great job with their firework shows!

Nani's visit came at a perfect time because at 11:30 Sunday night, Ella woke up screaming and wheezing.  After a call to the after hours nurse, we headed to the ER with her, and thankfully Nani was here to stay at home with Joseph so both Daddy and I could go (and we brought Julia because just wasn't sure if she'd wake up or not).  Ella was diagnosed with croup and after a steroid and a breathing treatment (and then waiting there for 2 hours to make sure the breathing treatment worked) we were on our way home.  We were totally shocked with her waking up in the middle of the night like this since she didn't even have any symptoms of a cold when she went to bed-the doctors told us that it can come on really fast though and it sure did.  We laid low the next few days but thankfully she really seemed ok.  She woke up on Monday night at the same time wheezing again but after sitting with her in the bathroom with a steamy shower she sounded better and was able to fall asleep in our bed and sleep well.  During the day she was running around and playing; she ended up getting a low grade fever on Tuesday night and then a runny nose and slight cough but thankfully it didn't turn into anything and after taking it easy for the beginning of the week she was all good.  We are thankful that Nani was here during this time-she and Joseph played all day while Ella tried to take it easy that first day and she was just such a nice help to have!  Made those days being cooped up in the house not seem as long!  And, of course, the cold made its way through the rest of the family.  Julia ended up with her first cold (we ended up in the doctor's office with her the first week of December but thankfully she's ok) and Joseph then caught the cold, too, and kept him home one day from school that first week of December, too, but with some rest everyone is healthy and back to normal now!
We had a relaxing second part of the trip with Nani though and here are some pictures..
Julia looking so big and getting so good at sitting up assisted.
Big smiles for Nani!
Ella jumping in on the action!
And, now all three of them!  No wonder why they all had colds at the same time...so much love!
 Practicing sitting up again!
 Smiling for Nani again!
Yay!  We love Nani!! Thanks so much for coming!
