June brought the end to this crazy school year and the kickoff to summer!
Looking back at the year is just crazy-to think that they were all home and virtual in September and for all of January and then that they only went to school for 2 1/2 hours per day for the majority of the year is just crazy but we made it work, made the best of it and are thankful that I wasn't working and could be here for them without juggling work for me as well. Whew!! What a year! We are SO looking forward to summer and all of the fun that comes with it! Here are the highlights from the last few weeks of school (we got out late this year since the start date was pushed back a week from the beginning of the year) so we weren't done until June 18th!
Nani and Poppa took Charlotte and Finn to the Safari Park one day before the end of school for the other kids.
Charlotte, however, was done a week earlier than the others and we celebrated her since she is a preschool graduate!!! She is heading to Transitional Kindergarten with the "big kids" next year! I can't believe that all four will be at the same school! Her graduation was nice and I am glad that they did something although it was crazy because these kids were allowed to keep their masks off during the day in the classroom; however, for graduation since it had to be held outside they had to keep their masks on due to the club's rules. Such crazy rules all over the place. Again, I'm just thankful that they were able to do something and Charlotte was so excited!
BFFs!
It was nice to have a week off with just Charlotte so we snuck in a few things to soak up our last days together-she has been my nonstop buddy for the past 4 1/2 years so I'm defintely going to miss her next year when she is in TK. I sure am going to miss the one on one time with her-she is something special! We hit up some of our favorite spots the last week...started with a run at Miramar and hanging out with the ducks for a bit.
We went for a run along the bay and made a quick stop at the beach on one of our last mornings.
And, we did Elmisa in her pjs and snuck in a park morning, too!
And, finally the last Day of School for this crazy school year is finally here. Part of me thinks they should be in school all summer since they missed out on so much this year only being allowed to go half day for the majority of the year but the bigger part of me is looking forward to the summer together.
Julia-Last Day of Kindergarten
Ella-Last day of 2nd grade
Joseph-Last day of 4th grade
Last day of school celebration with the cul de sac crew!
The celebration then continued at our house!
Julia has been talking about a pool party for her kindergarten class since the beginning of the year. I convinced her not to invite her entire class but just a few of her closest buddies so we had them over on the first full day of summer for a bbq and swimming and it was a great way to kick off summer! These sweet friends made it through their crazy covid kindergarten year together-I'm so thankful they were in school for at least part of the year to have somewhat of a normal experience. Julia was so excited to have this party and picked out her party outfit especially for this occasion! Julia and Valentina really hit it off this year and they are sweet friends.
We loved Mrs. Barton-just wish Julia had the full Kindergarten experience with her.
Lots of siblings, too!
We had a going away party for the Tirado family on June 13th which was bittersweet-sad to see them go but it was so nice to get together with the RBCPC crew and to hang with the Cawlfields, too.
The girls will deifnitely miss Isabella.
Last ice cream with Isabella before they flew out.
Kicked off summer with a pool day at Nani and Poppa's!
Along with baseball...always baseball here!
We also kicked off the first week of summer with a trip to Adriana's pool which is always a good time.
This year we have been trying to do one kind thing a month (along with one new things a month) and this month we brought an appreciation basket to the fire station in Rancho Bernardo. They were super nice and offered to take a photo with the kids-Joseph was the shyest of them all but Ella did a great job explaining the basket to them and thanking them.
Joseph and Ella went to a camp at Frozen Ropes for the last week in June so one morning Christy and I took the girls to a splash pad that I found in San Marcos. They had a blast!
Rich gets great seats to the Padres game with his work so we invited the Cawlfields and went down for a night and had a great time!
First bay day for the summer!
We brought Zack along with us!
Lots of time in our pool, too!
Joseph was selected to the Classics game for baseball since he is a player that shows leadership, good sportsmanship and skill level. He was excited to be chosen and had a blast at the game! He looks so grown up to me here.
Of course we celebrated Rich's birthday and Father's Day this month, too!
And, hung out at the Westwood club for a day or two. The highlight is always the diving boards!
Beach, time, too!
And park time.
And some down time, too.
These girls drvie me crazy with the mess in their room-seriously every time I go in I am like, "How do you girls live like this?!" ; however, I also love how creative they are and how well they play together and the things that they come up with! So much tape is used in this room!!
Fishing with Poppa.
Love our quieter mornings durimng the summer! (although this year our mornings were only busy until April since we had the afternoon slot)So many selfies!Ella has been writing in her diary every day and I found this and just wanted to remember her writing forever! I had to take Charlotte to the doctor's for her toe fungus and she wanted pictures with all of the animals-ha!
Jen and I took Joseph to the scooter park one day and Drew (neighbor) and his buddy joined us, too.
We are ready for an awesome summer together!!
